In this role the Associate correctly applies the relevant accounting rules and provides meaningful and appropriate financial reporting.BackgroundThe accounting teams within Financial Control are responsible for the preparation of periodic and annual financial reports on behalf of the Bank and the Donor Funds which the Bank administrates, together with setting and maintaining the accounting policies of the Bank. They maintain the financial records for each and provide timely and accurate information on financial performance and financial position. This information enables management to evaluate historic performance and formulate strategy.The role interacts with a wide cross section of departments within the Bank to coordinate the receipt and analysis of information required to fulfil internal and external financial reporting requirements. The person is also expected to respond to enquiries from internal and external auditors on areas of work for which they are responsible.Accountabilities & ResponsibilitiesPrepares sections of the year-end financial statements with all required disclosures and notes accurately and to a tight deadlinePrepare periodic internal financial management reporting.Assesses the impact of the latest IFRS accounting standards on EBRD financial statements to ensure complianceEnsures the accounting policies of the Bank are up-to-date and consistent with IFRSAssesses the accounting treatment of banking products in line with IFRS requirementsUndertakes investigations and inspections of data in accordance with established procedure to identify and quantify potential accounting postings requiredMaintains the accounting and reporting systems, files and other records required for the Bank and Donor Funds to ensure accurate and timely informationReviews transactions booked in front office systems and posted to the accounting systems for accuracy and appropriatenessLiaising with Operations and front office teams to resolve booking issuesIdentifies solutions to non-standard tasks/queriesProvides advice to internal clients relating to relevant financial products or transactionsContributes to the development of procedures to ensure the accounting department best responds to the needs of the BankReview and sign off of team members’ journals to ensure accuracySupervises and trains new team members and year end temporary staff to create a team that is capable of meeting its objectivesProduces work in compliance with the Bank’s Internal Controls FrameworkLiaises with internal and external auditors and responds to queriesSupports the team in the delivery of the Compass transformation project, including contribution to process design, system testing, data migration and implementation activitiesOther ad hoc tasks as allocated by line managerKnowledge, Skills, Experience & QualificationsEducated to degree levelACA qualified or equivalentSignificant relevant accounting experience, preferably in a Financial Services setting. Experience in Big 4 and/or an international bank is a preferred.Fluent English language skills, both verbal and writtenStatutory financial accounts preparation and/or audit experience on financial accountsStrong numerical and financial skills with the ability to interpret financial informationStrong data analysis, and financial analysis skills and experience with Tableau/Power BI or other data visualisation toolsFully competent in own practise area Working knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards, including IFRS 9 and IAS 32Strong computer skills with emphasis on ExcelExperience with SAP or equivalent accounting system preferableWhat is it like to work at the EBRD? / About EBRD Our agile and innovative approach is what makes life at the EBRD a unique experience!
