Active Life Trainer
Cygnet Hospital Taunton – Active Life Department
Cygnet Hospital Taunton provides acute inpatient admissions service for men and women and a specialist inpatient service for men diagnosed with a learning disability.
Salary: £28,820 per annum
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Flexible to cover 7-day service including evenings and weekends)
The Opportunity
Are you a flexible and enthusiastic fitness professional looking for a unique opportunity to make a real difference in a clinical mental health setting?
The Active Life Trainer role involves facilitating group and individual physical activity interventions and providing healthy lifestyle advice under the guidance of the Active Life Lead.
The post holder will work with service users, enabling them to focus on lifestyle changes and improvement of their physical health and wellbeing to support their recovery and rehabilitation.
This is a unique opportunity to work in a specialised fitness role, within a clinical mental health setting
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate Sessions: Deliver gym inductions, individual fitness programmes, and community-based sport and physical activity sessions.
- Support Recovery: Assist service users in identifying and meeting personal goals regarding their physical health and lifestyle.
- Promote Wellbeing: Act as a role model and assist in promoting a culture of physical health across the hospital.
- Maintain Standards: Ensure all gym facilities and equipment are clean, safe, and fully resourced.
- Clinical Excellence: Maintain accurate daily documentation and records as per standard operating procedures.
Essential Requirements:
- Minimum Level 2 Fitness Instructor qualification.
- Understanding of the principles of exercise, fitness, health, and human anatomy.
- Strong motivational skills with the ability to adapt and grade activities to suit individual needs and strengths.
- Energetic, caring, and outgoing with a creative approach to problem-solving.
Desirable Requirements:
- Level 3 Personal Trainer qualification.
- Higher education qualification in a health or social care field.
