Pig Farm Manager

We are recruiting for either an experienced Pig Farm Manager or a skilled Pig Stockperson looking to progress into a management role.

Our client, a family-run farming business based in Somerset, is looking for a Pig Farm Manager to oversee the daily operations of a 400-sow farrow-to-finish unit.

The unit runs on a 3-week batch system and integrates both outdoor-reared and free-range production. Dry sows are kept indoors in a modern scrape-through facility built three years ago. Farrowing is conducted outdoors on concrete railway sleepers, while growers are housed outside in Hudson barns. Outdoor-reared pigs are finished indoors in deep-straw, scrape-through accommodation, whereas free-range pigs remain outside throughout the production cycle.

The farm prides itself on maintaining a close connection with the end consumer. All homegrown cereals are processed on-site through a mill-and-mix system and fed directly back to the livestock.

The role offers flexibility and can be tailored to suit the successful candidate's strengths, with scope to expand into areas such as staff management and consumer engagement.

Salary: £45,000 DOE + housing
