Yard Manager Location: Brentwood Salary: £42,000 basic Hours: 48 hours per week Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent About the Role A leading civil engineering company is seeking an experienced Yard Manager to oversee the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of a busy yard supporting major infrastructure projects.

This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong organisational skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to maintain high standards across equipment, materials, and site logistics.
Key Responsibilities Manage day-to-day yard operations, ensuring smooth flow of materials, plant, and equipment.
Oversee stock control, goods-in/goods-out processes, and accurate record keeping.
Coordinate with site teams, suppliers, and transport to meet project requirements.
Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant yard environment in line with company and legal standards.
Lead and support yard operatives, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
Monitor and maintain tools, machinery, and plant, arranging repairs or servicing as required.
Implement and enforce health & safety procedures, including RAMS and site protocols.
Support logistics planning, vehicle movements, and equipment allocation.
Essential Requirements Right to work in the UK.
Proven experience in a similar Yard Manager or Yard Supervisor role, ideally within civil engineering, construction, utilities, or related sectors.
Strong understanding of yard operations, stock control, and plant/equipment management.
Confident communicator with the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders.
Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise in a fast-paced environment.
Strong commitment to health & safety and operational compliance.
Desirable Qualifications Valid forklift licences (Counterbalance, Telehandler, or similar).
Knowledge of construction plant, materials, and logistics.
Experience working within a large civil engineering or infrastructure organisation.
