Planning team Leader

Up to £36,000 + £2,500 Annual Bonus - 8am-5pm Monday - Friday

We're looking for an experienced Planning Team Leader to lead a busy operational planning function supporting a field-based engineering workforce. This is a fantastic opportunity for a confident and proactive leader to manage a team of 2 Planners and 20 Engineers, helping to deliver exceptional service and operational efficiency across the business.
The Role
As Planning Team Leader, you'll play a key role in ensuring engineer workloads, schedules and customer expectations are managed effectively. You'll be responsible for leading and developing the planning team while maintaining strong communication with engineers and stakeholders across the business.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing people management with operational coordination and who can inspire teams to deliver high standards every day.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, motivate and develop a team of 2 Planners and 20 Engineers
Drive team performance through effective coaching, support and accountability
Oversee engineer scheduling and diary management to maximise productivity and customer satisfaction
Monitor workload and resource planning to ensure operational efficiency
Build strong relationships with engineers, planners and wider business teams
Identify and implement process improvements within planning and operations
Support SLA performance and ensure customer issues are resolved promptly
Monitor operational reporting and performance metrics
Maintain high standards of communication and service delivery across the team
About You
We're looking for a strong people-focused leader who can bring energy, organisation and a positive mindset to the role.
You will ideally have:
Previous experience leading planning, scheduling or operational teams
Strong people management and coaching skills
Experience managing field-based engineers or mobile workforces
Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities
A proactive and hands-on management style
Confidence working in a fast-paced service environment
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Good IT and reporting skills
