Vantage Education Partners are delighted to be working with an OFSTED Outstanding Secondary School in East London to recruit an enthusiastic, proactive and committed Librarian to join their team from September 2026.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a genuine passion for reading, literacy and student achievement to play a key role in shaping a vibrant learning culture beyond the classroom. The successful candidate will lead the school’s library provision, inspire a love of reading across the school community and support the delivery of an ambitious whole-school literacy strategy.
The Role
The Librarian will be responsible for:

Managing and developing an engaging and innovative school library and learning resource centre
*
Promoting reading for pleasure and supporting students to become lifelong readers
*
Delivering literacy initiatives and reading interventions
*
Supporting students' independent learning, creativity and academic success
*
Organising reading competitions, author events and enrichment activities
*
Managing digital and physical library resources, including e-book platforms
*
Running literacy-focused clubs and extracurricular activities
*
Monitoring reading progress and working closely with teaching and pastoral staff to improve outcomes
*
Collaborating with departments to support curriculum projects and research activities
This is a highly visible role within the school and offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on students' literacy, confidence and future aspirations.
The Ideal Candidate
Applicants will:
*
Hold a Level 3 qualification or equivalent, with strong literacy and numeracy skills
*
Have experience working within a school or educational setting
*
Demonstrate a passion for reading and literacy development
*
Have excellent communication, organisational and time-management skills
*
Be confident working independently and as part of a wider team
*
Be proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable using educational technology
*
Bring a positive, flexible and innovative approach to supporting young people
Experience working with young people and delivering mentoring, teaching or literacy-based support programmes would be highly advantageous.
