Payroll Implementation Consultant Salary: £36,000 – £50,000 Location: Birmingham Working Pattern: Hybrid Key Responsibilities * Advise clients on how to improve and modernise their payroll operations * Assess existing payroll setups and identify gaps, risks and opportunities for change * Help clients select and implement payroll and workforce management technology * Provide specialist input across payroll projects, audits and transformation programmes * Work alongside project teams to help deliver complex client engagements from start to finish * Build relationships with key stakeholders and act as a trusted payroll advisor * Support business development through proposals, tenders, presentations and client meetings * Contribute to developing new payroll solutions, processes and industry best practice Ideal Candidate * Experienced payroll professional with a strong background in UK payroll operations * Someone who understands payroll beyond processing, including controls, compliance, systems and wider business impact * Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and statutory requirements * Comfortable analysing large volumes of payroll data and using Excel to identify trends, issues and discrepancies * Confident working with payroll technology and systems, with exposure to platforms such as Workday, Oracle, SAP or Dayforce * Strong consulting and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to work directly with clients * Naturally curious and commercially minded, with an interest in technology, transformation and improving payroll functions * Previous experience in consulting, implementation, transformation or payroll technology would be a strong advantage * International payroll exposure would be beneficial Ideal for someone who has a strong payroll background but wants to step away from pure processing and move into a more varied, client-facing consulting career.
