We are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager to lead and develop health, safety and compliance standards across a logistics operation with an emphasis on ambient food storage, warehousing and transport.

This is a hands-on, strategic role suited to an established health and safety professional with a strong background in food logistics, warehouse operations and transport safety. The successful candidate will take ownership of health and safety performance across our main sites (within a 15-mile radius), ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, industry standards and customer requirements.

Working closely with operational management and site teams, you will promote a proactive safety culture, drive continuous improvement and ensure that robust systems and procedures are consistently implemented throughout the business.

Key Responsibilities

Health & Safety Management

*

Develop, implement and maintain effective health and safety policies, procedures and management systems across multiple operational sites.

*

Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation, regulations and industry best practice.

*

Lead risk assessments, method statement reviews, workplace inspections and health and safety audits.

*

Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective and preventative actions.

*

Monitor health and safety performance, producing reports, identifying trends and recommending improvements.

*

Maintain accurate compliance documentation, training records and statutory registers.

Warehousing & Transport Safety

*

Oversee health and safety standards across warehouse, storage, loading, unloading, yard and transport operations.

*

Ensure effective management of risks associated with vehicle movements, pedestrian segregation, forklift trucks, manual handling, work at height and workplace equipment

Food Safety, Quality & BRC Standards

*

Support the maintenance of high standards within ambient food storage and distribution environments.

*

Maintain working knowledge of BRCGS requirements relevant to food storage and distribution, supporting audit readiness and compliance.

*

Work alongside quality and food safety teams to ensure health and safety arrangements align with food safety, hygiene and site security requirements.

Requirements

*

NEBOSH qualification (or similar)

*

Experience in a health and safety role

*

Knowledge of ambient food storage, warehousing/distribution.

*

Practical experience with BRCGS standards and audit requirements within a relevant food storage or distribution environment.

*

Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and its practical application in operational settings.

*

Proven experience conducting risk assessments, audits, incident investigations and implementing corrective actions.

*

Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills
