Are you someone who genuinely enjoys getting to know students, supporting them through challenges and helping them become the best version of themselves?
Bright Star Talent are working with a thriving secondary school in Darwen, rated Good by Ofsted, who are looking for a committed and approachable Head of Year to join their pastoral team.
With over 1,200 students, this is a busy school where no two days are the same. You'll be working closely with students, teachers, families and the wider pastoral team, making a real difference to the day-to-day experience of young people.
What you'll be doing
As Head of Year, you'll be at the heart of your year group's pastoral support. You'll:
* Get to know your students and understand what motivates and challenges them.
* Provide a consistent point of support for students who may need extra guidance.
* Monitor attendance, behaviour, wellbeing and progress.
* Work with students to overcome barriers and build confidence.
* Develop positive relationships with parents and carers.
* Work alongside teachers and pastoral staff to put the right support in place.
* Help manage behaviour and encourage high expectations.
* Celebrate student achievements and recognise their progress.
* Support students through difficult situations and help them make positive choices.
Who we're looking for
We're looking for someone who is approachable, resilient and genuinely cares about young people.
You might already be working in a pastoral role, or you could be an experienced education professional ready to take the next step in your career.
Most importantly, you'll be someone who:
* Builds strong and trusting relationships with students.
* Is confident dealing with challenging situations.
* Communicates well with students, staff and families.
* Remains calm and positive under pressure.
* Has high expectations but understands that every student is different.
* Wants to make a genuine difference to the lives of young people.
* Has a DBS registered on the Update Service.
