Urgent Contract AI Service Designer (2B) - Active Security Cleared

Role Purpose

The AI Service Designer is responsible for designing end-to-end services that leverage data, AI, and automation to improve outcomes for consumers, and market participants. The role focuses on understanding user and organisational needs, shaping AI-enabled services, and ensuring solutions are usable, ethical, and aligned to Ofgem's Responsible AI and Digital strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design of AI-enabled services from discovery through to live, ensuring they meet user needs and business outcomes
  • Map current and future service journeys, identifying opportunities to embed AI, automation, and data-driven decision-making
  • Conduct user research and translate insights into service designs, prototypes, and design artefacts
  • Identify where AI can improve service efficiency, quality, or customer experience
  • Work with data scientists, engineers, and product teams to embed AI solutions into operational services
  • Embed Responsible AI principles including fairness, transparency, and accountability into service design
  • Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams and support agile delivery
  • Define service performance metrics and continuously improve services using data and feedback

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience designing end-to-end services in complex organisations
  • Skilled in service design methods such as journey mapping and service blueprints
  • Understanding of AI, data, and automation capabilities and limitations
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Experience working in agile, multidisciplinary environments
  • Understanding of Responsible AI and ethical considerations
