Transport Manager

PS Ltd are recruiting for an experienced Transport Manager to join a busy and established company based in Sheffield. This is a key operational role, responsible for overseeing the day-to-day transport function, coordinating deliveries and collections, managing drivers and ensuring the operation runs safely, efficiently and in line with transport legislation. The successful candidate will be an organised and confident Transport Manager with strong leadership skills and a Transport Manager CPC. Salary: Up to £40,000 per annum, depending on experience Key Responsibilities: - Manage the day-to-day transport operation, including deliveries, collections and other haulage requirements - Plan and coordinate driver schedules and vehicle movements to maximise efficiency - Manage and support the driver team, monitoring performance and addressing any operational issues - Ensure full compliance with transport legislation, operator licence requirements and health & safety procedures - Work closely with the company's in-house garage to coordinate vehicle maintenance, repairs and availability - Liaise with customers, suppliers and internal departments to ensure a smooth and reliable service - Resolve transport and delivery issues quickly and effectively - Identify opportunities to improve routes, utilisation and overall transport efficiency - Maintain accurate transport records and ensure relevant documentation is kept up to date The Ideal Candidate: - Must hold a Transport Manager CPC - Previous experience managing a transport, haulage or logistics operation - Strong understanding of transport compliance and relevant legislation - Experience managing and motivating drivers - Excellent organisation and problem-solving skills - Confident communicating with customers, drivers and internal teams - Good IT skills, including Microsoft Outlook and other transport/office systems - Full UK driving licence - A practical, hands-on approach and the ability to work effectively in a busy environment This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Transport Manager to take responsibility for a busy transport operation within an established Sheffield business.
