About the role
Our client is developing cutting-edge, next generation compound semiconductors, and is a leader within the North East’s emerging semiconductor cluster. They are now searching for a Manufacturing Engineer to provide manufacturing/industrial engineering expertise, using capacity modelling, data analysis and continuous improvement techniques to optimise WIP flow, cycle time, equipment utilisation, throughput and delivery performance.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain and improve the fab capacity model, ensuring data accuracy and supporting equipment and staffing decisions
Analyse WIP, equipment availability, throughput and operational data to identify improvement opportunities
Perform capacity, cost and “what-if” analyses to support business and operational decisions
Identify and resolve issues affecting cycle time, production flow and delivery performance
Assess capacity requirements resulting from changes in product mix, process flows and business demand
Work with Engineering, Operations, Automation and Tool Owners to assess the impact of process and equipment changes
Conduct time studies and data analysis to evaluate process and throughput improvements
Support the introduction of new processes, methods and production flows
Estimate manufacturing costs, establish time standards and recommend tooling/process requirements
Drive continuous improvement using Lean/Six Sigma and structured problem-solving methods
Experience & Qualifications
2+ years’ experience in Semiconductor, Electronics or Automotive manufacturing, particularly in:
Capacity modelling
Operations optimisation
Data analysis
Continuous improvement
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering plus 3 years’ industry experience, or equivalent proven industry experience
Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred/required
Comfortable working in a cleanroom environment
