About the role

Substation Project Engineer for a major offshore wind project in Scotland.

Responsibility

  • Create outline scope, site location plans, primary plant layout and Single Line Diagrams for new build and asset replacement type projects, operating up to 400kV.
  • Review contractor/consultants detailed designs and witnessing Factory Acceptance Testing.
  • Implement safety by design principles to ensure that engineering and safety risks are adequately controlled.
  • Support site and operational teams to ensure the quality of installations, with minimal risk to Network security.
  • Evaluate tenders and procure and manage specialist services from consultants.

Requirements

  • A solid awareness of the technical functions within Transmission, as well as an understanding of legal and regulatory obligations, project governance, and engineering processes.
  • Knowledge of key legislation affecting Transmission network management for both assets and projects, including the Construction Design and Management Regulations and the Electricity Safety, Quality and Continuity Regulations.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and the confidence to ensure that critical issues are identified and addressed by project teams.
  • Enthusiasm and excellent communication skills, with a diligent approach and the ability to effectively prioritize tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
  • A degree or HND in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent technical experience, and ideally Chartered Engineer status or working towards professional accreditation with a relevant institution.
