About the Role Cover People are currently recruiting for a dedicated and resilient Construction Teacher to join an attached behaviour provision within a mainstream secondary school in North Manchester from September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to work with students aged 11–16 who require additional behavioural and pastoral support to access education successfully. The successful candidate will deliver engaging and practical Construction lessons that develop students' vocational skills, confidence and employability while helping them re-engage with learning. The provision offers a highly supportive environment with small class sizes, strong pastoral support and a focus on building positive relationships with young people. This position is expected to lead to a permanent contract for the right candidate. ECTs with a relevant vocational background will be considered, alongside experienced teachers and instructors. M1–M6 Teachers will be paid to scale from day one. Key Responsibilities Deliver high-quality Construction lessons to students aged 11–16 Plan and deliver practical, engaging vocational learning opportunities Adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of students with behavioural, social and emotional needs Build positive relationships that promote engagement, attendance and achievement Create a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment Support students in developing practical skills, confidence and employability Monitor, assess and track student progress effectively Work collaboratively with pastoral teams, support staff and senior leaders Manage behaviour positively and consistently in line with school policies Contribute to the wider development of the provision and its vocational curriculum Requirements QTS, QTLS or a relevant teaching/instructor qualification Experience teaching Construction, Design Technology, Engineering or a related vocational subject Strong classroom and behaviour management skills Experience working with students displaying challenging behaviour is desirable Ability to build positive relationships and motivate disengaged learners Excellent communication and organisational skills Commitment to supporting the personal and academic development of young people Right to work in the UK Why Join Cover People?
