Design Manager

Design Manager required in Southwest London

GVR Solutions are currently representing a well-established main contractor, based in SW London, who undertake high-end Bespoke Retail and Leisure fit out and refurbishment projects primarily in London for high-end Boutique clientele and brands. Due to continuous and positive growth, they are in the market for a Technical Design Manager that has a proven background in the high-end retail fit out market.

Design Manager responsibilities:

* Leading a team consisting of 1-2 CAD Technicians and Design Coordinators

* Working alongside the Estimating, Commercial Director, Contracts Director, project management team, procurement, production, site managers, clients, consultants and specialist subcontractors

* Developing client concept and S3 packs into fully coordinated construction and S4–S6 millwork/joinery drawings

* Owning the drawing register and revision control, so only current information reaches site and the factory

* Checking internal and subcontractor drawings, and coordinating M&E, structure, ceilings and landlord interfaces

* Reviewing tender packs, flagging gaps early and raising clear RFIs

* Making sure drawings meet Building Regulations, CDM 2015 and landlord requirements

* Producing as-built drawings at completion, and supporting 1–2 CAD technicians

Design Manager requirements:

* Has 5+ years in technical design for retail or commercial fit-out, with strong joinery and millwork detailing

* Is advanced in AutoCAD and confident reading M&E and structural drawings

* Is a self-starter who keeps drawing programmes moving and acts when something is holding up site or manufacture

* Communicates clearly, takes direction well and issues the right information to the right people, on time

* Is calm, approachable and someone the site, factory and PM teams can rely on

* Ideally has luxury retail or high-end interiors experience
