General Foreman - Clean Water Projects Location: Chester Sector: Utilities / Clean Water Employment Type: Contract We are currently recruiting for an experienced General Foreman to join a major civil engineering contractor delivering Clean Water projects for United Utilities in the Chester area. This is an excellent opportunity for a driven and hands-on General Foreman with a strong background in civil engineering, utilities, water, or infrastructure projects. You will be responsible for overseeing site operations, managing site teams, and ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. Key Responsibilities Oversee and coordinate daily site activities on clean water projects. Supervise direct labour, subcontractors, and plant operations. Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards. Deliver projects in line with programme requirements and client expectations. Conduct daily briefings, site inspections, and toolbox talks. Liaise closely with Site Agents, Engineers, and Project Managers. Monitor productivity and identify opportunities to improve site performance. Ensure materials, plant, and labour resources are effectively managed. Maintain accurate site records and reports. Requirements Previous experience as a General Foreman within civil engineering, utilities, water, or infrastructure projects. Experience working on clean water schemes is highly desirable. Strong leadership and people management skills. Good understanding of health & safety regulations and site compliance. Ability to read and interpret drawings and work specifications. SSSTS or SMSTS certification. Valid CSCS Card. First Aid qualification preferred. Full UK Driving Licence. What's on Offer Competitive day rate. Long-term contract opportunity.
