Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and commercially minded Senior Director to support the growth of our Life Insurance Advisory business across EMEA.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and strengthening relationships with the heads of relevant functions in client organisations, developing and deploying intellectual property to support clients’ demographic assumption-setting and risk modelling, and advising clients on demographic aspects of M&A and risk-transfer transactions. They will collaborate widely with other teams and stakeholders to provide advice on demographics across a wide range of different project types.
This role would suit an individual with a desire to deepen their existing specialism in the field of longevity and biometric risk, who is also interested in supporting PRT transaction work including pricing.
The Role
Key Responsibilities:
Client Relationship Management
Develop and deepen relationships with such stakeholders as the heads of functions responsible for longevity, mortality, morbidity and other demographic assumptions for pricing, reserving or risk modelling, across EMEA life insurers.
Act as a trusted advisor to clients on the setting and review of demographic assumptions, demographic risk modelling methods and the calibration and validation of Internal Models for demographic risk.
Represent the firm at industry conferences and in client meetings.
Mortality / Longevity / Biometric assumptions domain expertise
Advise clients on a broad range of mortality/longevity-related topics, including:
Assumption-setting methodologies
Independent reviews of pricing/reserving assumptions
Incorporation of external data and information into modelling
Internal Model (or broader economic capital model) development, calibration and validation
Transaction-related assumptions, including for PRT deals
Contributing to the direction of, and delivering / reviewing content for, a regular research bulletin for client use.
Support on PRT pricing work
Intellectual property development
Lead work on the development of intellectual property for deployment within the field of demographic assumption / risk.
Business Development
Identify relevant emerging market trends and opportunities within the life insurance market.
Develop thought leadership materials and market insights.
Contribute to sales strategy, pipeline development, and revenue growth objectives.
Collaborate across advisory, actuarial, broking, investment, and M&A teams to deliver integrated client solutions.
Internal Leadership
Mentor and support other team members.

Qualifications
What you'll bring
Proven experience within life insurance, reinsurance, consulting or other actuarial advisory.
You will have:
carried out and interpreted the results of investigations (e.g. analyses of mortality experience) which support assumption-setting processes and communicated the results of such investigations to senior stakeholders
engaged in research to support demographic assumption-setting, covering (for example) literature reviews of epidemiological papers, or fitting models to public-domain data, using third-party data to enrich your own portfolio experience data, etc.
developed a detailed understanding of statistical methods used within the context of demographic assumptions or demographic risks, when and how it is appropriate to use those methods, and the limitations of those methods
In all of the above, some exposure to mortality/longevity assumptions/risks would be preferred, but candidates with experience of morbidity assumption-setting will also be considered.
Experience of interacting with senior stakeholders.
Strong commercial and business development skills.
Knowledge of major EMEA life insurance markets.
You may also have:
advised other stakeholders on the correct application of demographic assumptions, or provided critical review of the appropriateness of certain assumptions for the purpose for which they were being used
worked on the development or validation of Internal Models (Solvency II/Solvency UK) of demographic risks
carried out demographic analyses within the context of assumption-setting for PRT pricing
previously worked for a consultancy, engaged with external clients (or stakeholders from outside of your business unit) and had to manage multiple competing demands.
established connections with other demographic experts across the industry, or contributed to presentations on demographic topics at industry events.
Preferred Qualifications
Qualified actuary with post-qualification experience in a relevant discipline.
