About the role

OverviewA leading financial services organisation is hiring an experienced Data Governance Lead to support a critical, engineering-led initiative. This role will focus on designing and delivering a risk-based data prioritisation methodology for engineering data and records, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and business priorities. Working across engineering, data, and risk teams, you will play a key role in defining how critical data is identified, prioritised, and governed, and in developing a clear roadmap to achieve compliance and improve data governance maturity. This is a hands-on delivery role, requiring someone who has successfully implemented similar frameworks in complex, regulated environments. Details Location - London Hybrid - 3 days / week in the office Duration - Initial 6 months Rate - £750 -£900 / day Inside IR35 via Umbrella Key Responsibilities Design and implement a risk-based data prioritisation methodology, including scoring criteria aligned to business value, risk, and regulatory exposure. Adapt existing enterprise data governance policies to the engineering environment Engage with senior stakeholders across engineering, data, and risk to drive alignment and secure buy-in Apply the methodology to identify and prioritise critical engineering datasets and records Develop a pragmatic roadmap and implementation plan to achieve data conformance Support identification of data and record ownership where required Ensure outputs are practical, scalable, and embedded into engineering workflows Experience Required Proven experience in data governance, data management, or data strategy delivery roles Demonstrable experience building and applying data prioritisation frameworks, methodologies, or operating models Experience working closely with engineering or technology teams Strong understanding of risk, regulatory, and compliance-driven data environments Background in financial services or another highly regulated industry Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior technical and business stakeholders Track record of delivering practical, implementable outcomes, not just high-level strategy If you're interested in this role, click 'apply now' to forward an up-to-date copy of your CV, or call us now.
