Job Title: Tax ManagerLocation: West MidlandsEmployment Type: Full-timeReports to: Senior Finance ManagerCompany OverviewWe are a growing automotive OEM based in the UK, specialising in vehicle sales and import operations. We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Tax Manager to manage all company tax matters and act as the main point of contact with HMRC.Role OverviewThe Tax Manager will be responsible for overseeing all tax-related matters within the company, ensuring full compliance with UK tax regulations. The successful candidate will manage corporate and payroll taxes, VAT submissions, import/export duties, and maintain direct communication with HMRC.Key ResponsibilitiesTax Compliance & HMRC LiaisonAct as the primary point of contact with HMRC for all tax-related mattersEnsure full compliance with UK tax legislation and reporting requirementsRespond to HMRC enquiries, investigations, and correspondenceMaintain accurate tax records and documentationCorporate & Business TaxesPrepare and submit Corporation Tax returnsManage business rates and other applicable company taxesMonitor tax deadlines and ensure timely submissions and paymentsVAT ManagementPrepare and submit VAT returns (including Margin Scheme if applicable to vehicle sales)Ensure correct VAT treatment of vehicle sales, imports, exports, and intra-EU transactionsConduct VAT reconciliations and resolve discrepanciesImport/Export & Customs DutiesOversee customs declarations and import/export tax complianceEnsure correct calculation and payment of customs dutiesLiaise with freight agents and customs brokers when necessaryPayroll & Employment TaxesOversee PAYE, National Insurance Contributions (NIC), and other payroll-related taxesReview and verify payroll calculations to ensure accuracy and complianceEnsure RTI (Real Time Information) submissions are completed accurately and on timeFinancial Control & ReportingWork closely with the Finance team to ensure accurate tax reportingSupport audits and provide tax documentation as requiredIdentify tax planning opportunities and advise management on tax efficiencyWork closely with the Finance team to ensure accurate ME/YE closingsRequirementsQualifications & ExperienceRelevant qualification in Accounting, Taxation, or Finance (e.g., ATT, CTA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent preferred)At least 5 years proven experience in UK tax complianceStrong knowledge of VAT, Corporation Tax, PAYE, EORI and UK GAAPExperience in the automotive industry is desirableFamiliarity with HMRC systems and online filing platformsSkillsStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent attention to detailStrong communication skills and ability to liaise with HMRC and external advisorsAbility to work independently and manage multiple deadlinesProficiency in accounting software and Microsoft ExcelTPBN1_UKTJ
