Responsible for providing technical support across electrical, instrumentation, automation and marine communication/navigation systems for an assigned group of vessels. The role will support the safe, reliable and commercially effective operation of the fleet, working closely with vessel management teams and attending vessels when required for planned maintenance periods, upgrades, repairs, inspections, commissioning activities and operational trials. Key Responsibilities Provide specialist technical guidance across vessel electrical, instrumentation, automation and communication/navigation systems.Promote strong safety, environmental and operational standards across all areas of responsibility.Ensure vessel activities and technical projects are carried out in accordance with company procedures, engineering standards and applicable regulatory requirements.Act as a technical focal point for complex EIA-related matters, particularly within gas shipping operations.Support the development and continuous improvement of fleet engineering standards, maintenance practices and technical procedures.Keep abreast of changes in relevant regulations, class requirements and emerging technologies, assessing their potential impact on the fleet.Review technical specifications and work scopes for repairs, upgrades, conversions and planned maintenance activities.Provide technical input into safety, quality and incident-management processes where specialist engineering knowledge is required.Ensure modifications to vessel systems are appropriately assessed, documented and controlled through established engineering change procedures.Work closely with vessel management and onboard teams to troubleshoot defects, resolve operational issues and improve system reliability.Support the planning, execution and technical oversight of capital expenditure projects, equipment upgrades and fleet improvement initiatives.Attend vessels, shipyards and project locations as necessary to oversee repairs, upgrades, dry-docking activities, testing and commissioning.Assist with the technical assessment, recruitment and development of Electro-Technical Officers and other relevant marine personnel.Review operational and maintenance information to identify recurring issues, reliability trends and opportunities for improvement.Develop practical maintenance strategies and operational best practice for electrical and automation equipment across the fleet.Coordinate technical investigations, major repairs and specialist engineering projects involving internal and external stakeholders.Contribute to newbuilding, retrofit and conversion projects through specification review, equipment evaluation and assessment of alternative technologies.Support the development of engineering design standards and technical criteria for future fleet projects. Requirements Formal education or professional training within electrical engineering or a closely related discipline.Strong understanding of marine electrical, instrumentation and automation systems.Previous experience within the maritime sector, either at sea, ashore or through a combination of both.Good understanding of vessel technical operations and planned maintenance requirements.Awareness of current marine technology, class requirements and relevant industry regulations.Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.Able to work effectively with both shore-based management teams and seagoing personnel.Practical, solutions-focused approach to technical problems and operational support.Existing right to live and work in the UK Preferred Experience Previous exposure to gas carriers would be particularly advantageous, including LNG or related liquefied-gas vessels. This could have been gained through an Electro-Technical, engineering, project or shore-based technical position.
