MS SQL Developer

We are recruiting on behalf of a prestigious international bank with a significant presence in London. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced MS SQL Developer to join a well-established data team and play a key role in maintaining and improving critical database solutions that underpin the bank's day-to-day operations. Location: Central London. Salary: up to £68,000 basic + 25% bonus + extensive benefits including a 12.5% pension scheme. Working arrangement: hybrid, 4 days in the office per week. Contract type: fixed term, 12 months. What you’ll be doing Designing, developing, and maintaining MS SQL Server databases, writing T-SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and functions to support business operations. Optimising query performance through indexing, execution plans, and tuning techniques to ensure reliable, high-speed data access. Developing and managing ETL processes for data integration and migration, working closely with data and application teams to deliver seamless solutions. Monitoring database performance proactively, resolving issues before they impact the business, and supporting database deployments and release processes. Gathering and translating data requirements from stakeholders, and producing clear documentation for database designs, processes, and standards. What you need to bring Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server (2016 or later), including advanced T-SQL programming and complex query development. Proven ability in query optimisation and performance tuning, with solid knowledge of database design, normalisation, and indexing strategies. Experience with ETL tools such as SSIS, along with familiarity with SQL Server Agent jobs, scheduling, and backup and recovery concepts.
