Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) - Sheffield
We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a welcoming and supportive school in the Sheffield area from September 2026.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant or qualified HLTA who is passionate about supporting pupils' learning and development. The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to deliver high-quality learning experiences, provide targeted interventions, and lead lessons where required.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver learning activities and lessons in the absence of the class teacher.
Support pupil progress across a range of subjects and year groups.
Work with individuals and small groups to provide targeted interventions.
Assist with planning, preparation, and assessment activities.
Promote a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
Support pupils with varying learning needs, including SEND where applicable.
Monitor and report on pupil progress to teaching staff and senior leaders.
Uphold safeguarding and behaviour policies at all times.
Requirements
HLTA qualification or equivalent experience.
Previous experience working within a primary or secondary school setting.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage classroom behaviour effectively.
A proactive, flexible, and positive approach to supporting learning.
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
Right to work in the UK.
