About the role

Client Director - Surety

We are hiring Aon's Global Broking Centre to recruit a Client Director to join our Surety team based in London. This hybrid role offers flexibility to work virtually or from our London office.

What the day will look like

Key responsibilities include:

  • Client management and broking, serving a diversified portfolio of clients (wholesale and retail, renewals and new business).
  • Understanding the client’s business and surety requirements and providing technical advice to clients and networks.
  • Providing account and brokerage services to new and existing Aon surety accounts, proactively advising the client on opportunities to improve their surety program and ensuring client retention and year‑over‑year book growth.
  • Ensuring compliance with Aon standards and Business Practice Guidelines.
  • Regularly meeting with markets to understand pricing, capacity, and nuances of surety market indemnity agreements; leveraging brokerage experience and risk expertise from prior transactions.
  • Serving as a point of contact for other Aon colleagues to advise on surety matters, place new bonds, or route to other practice groups; exhibiting high Aon IQ, teamwork, innovation, and engagement across the platform.
  • Working closely with Surety clients to ensure our global best practice is achieved.

Additional responsibilities include compliance with regulatory standards, adherence to the Aon UK Limited Risk Management Framework, and participation in mandatory training and risk management activities.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • Excellent technical knowledge in Surety.
  • Experience as a client manager, ideally in the Surety space.
  • Exceptional negotiation skills and experience layering complex programmes.
  • Organised, able to prioritise work and deliver accurately and on time.
  • Excellent client service skills.
  • Ability to interpret and use data effectively.
  • Strong relationships and knowledge of the UK Surety market, with ability to build and maintain business relationships.
  • Good analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and with network offices.
  • Demonstrates integrity and professionalism.

The UK Surety team comprises nine colleagues of varying experience, serving clients across the UK, EMEA and North America in collaboration with our Retail networks in key global hubs.
