I’m currently working with an established construction equipment and heavy plant business who are looking to appoint an experienced Service Controller to join their North East operation.
This is a key position within the aftersales team, responsible for coordinating a busy field service operation and ensuring engineers, customers, parts and ongoing jobs are managed effectively.
Youdo not need to have started your career as an Engineer, although a technical background would certainly be advantageous. What is important is previous experience working as a Service Controller, Service Coordinator, Service Planner, Workshop Controller or similar within a relevant engineering or machinery environment.
The role will include:
- Coordinating and scheduling Field Service Engineers across the region
- Managing breakdowns, servicing, repairs and planned maintenance
- Prioritising engineer workloads based on urgency, location and customer requirements
- Keeping customers updated throughout the repair/service process
- Raising and progressing jobs/work orders through to completion
- Liaising with Engineers regarding faults, additional work and follow-up visits
- Working closely with Parts to ensure components are available when required
- Supporting quotations, warranty claims and service invoicing
- Monitoring outstanding jobs and helping minimise machine downtime
- Maintaining accurate records within the service management system
What we’re looking for:
- Previous experience within service control / service coordination
- Experience coordinating field-based engineers
- An understanding of a machinery, equipment or engineering service environment
- Strong organisation and the ability to manage changing priorities
- Confident customer communication skills
- Comfortable dealing with breakdowns and urgent service requirements
- Good administrative and IT skills
Experience within heavy plant, construction equipment, plant hire, agricultural machinery, material handling, powered access, HGV/commercial vehicles or a similar sector would be particularly relevant.
Previous hands-on engineering experience would be an advantage, but it is not essential.
Package:
£35,000 – £40,000 depending on experience, with potential flexibility towards £45,000 for an exceptional candidate. xwzovoh
