About the role
Technical Business Analyst
Hybrid: London (3 days per week)
£85,000 | + Bonus (Up to 20%) | Industry Leading Benefits
A major UK retail technology business is looking for a Technical Business Analyst to join the its Software Engineering team.
The business is mid-way through a large-scale transformation programme covering Point of Sale, Product Information Management, integrations and customer digital journeys.
You'll work closely with Solution Architects, Engineering Leads and Delivery Managers to make sure proposed solutions are fit for purpose, not over-engineered, and actually solve the problem in front of them.
You'll get involved in solution design before delivery starts, not just requirements-gathering after the fact, which means you need to be genuinely comfortable with APIs and how systems integrate, not just aware that they exist.
What You'll Be Doing
Reviewing solution proposals and architecture, flagging concerns and suggesting simpler alternatives where they exist
Assessing the technical, business and change impacts of proposed solutions and integrations
Identifying edge cases, functional gaps and logic flaws before technical delivery starts
Documenting current and future state processes, including data flow diagrams and data models
Reviewing business and non-functional requirements and pushing back where needed
Writing epics and user stories so engineering teams have clear, actionable requirements
Working closely with business, architecture, delivery and engineering teams throughoutWhat We're Looking For
Strong understanding of APIs and how systems integrate, you can read a technical design and ask the right questions about it
Confident reviewing and commenting on technical designs, solution architecture and integrations
Comfortable discussing data flows, SQL and technical architecture
Experience with Agile delivery: user stories, acceptance criteria and the full SDLC
Comfortable making a reasonable assumption and moving forward when something's unclear
Retail, e-commerce or customer-journey experience is useful but not essentialIf this sounds like your kind of role, get in touch and we can talk through the details
