Civil Engineer – Water & InfrastructureLondon | Hybrid working (2 days per week from home)At GHD, we’re driven by a shared purpose to create a sustainable future for our communities. As part of our continued growth across the UK Water sector, we’re looking for a Civil Engineer to join our London team and contribute to the delivery of high‑quality infrastructure and treatment projects across water and wastewater.About the roleAs a Civil Engineer, you’ll support the delivery of projects from feasibility through to detailed design, working alongside experienced engineers and multi‑disciplinary teams. You’ll be involved in a wide variety of civil and structural design activities and will have clear opportunities to develop your technical capability, project experience and progress towards chartership.You’ll work closely with Project Managers, Design Managers and Technical Leads to help deliver projects safely, efficiently and to a high technical standard.Key responsibilitiesDeliver civil engineering design from feasibility through to detailed designPrepare supporting design calculations, technical notes and reportsCoordinate and manage the preparation of technical drawingsSupport delivery of projects to agreed programme, budget and quality targetsTake responsibility for smaller projects or defined elements of larger schemesAssist with day‑to‑day financial and commercial management of engineering commissionsApply relevant British Standards, water industry standards and GHD proceduresWork collaboratively within multi‑disciplinary design teamsShare knowledge and support the development of junior team membersAbout youYou’ll be an early‑career civil engineer with a passion for water and infrastructure projects and a desire to grow your technical and professional capabilities within a supportive consultancy environment.You’ll have:2+ years’ experience in civil engineering design, ideally within water and/or industrial sectorsExposure to projects such as water and wastewater treatment works, pipelines, pumping stations or related infrastructureExperience preparing and checking high‑quality calculations, drawings and technical documentationWorking knowledge of British Standards and water industry standardsFamiliarity with industry‑standard analysis and design softwareStrong communication skills and a collaborative, team‑focused approachIdeally, you’ll also have:Degree in a relevant engineering disciplineWorking towards (or interested in attaining) Chartered Engineer (ICE) statusExposure to design & build project environmentsWhy GHD?Joining GHD means becoming part of a global professional services consultancy where people, collaboration and technical excellence are at the heart of what we do.We offer:Hybrid working options (2 days per week from home)Diverse and interesting projects across the UK water sectorStructured learning, mentoring and chartership supportA strong focus on safety, quality and sustainabilityA positive, inclusive culture that supports long‑term career developmentInterested?If you’re looking to develop your civil engineering career within a leading consultancy delivering meaningful water sector projects, we’d love to hear from you.Apply now and build your future with GHD.Posting Date: 2026-04-13
