HGV Technician - Wednesbury, West Midlands
Our client, a leading fleet operation based in Wednesbury, West Midlands, is seeking an experienced HGV Technician to join their dynamic team. This is a full-time position offering a £45,000 basic salary, with opportunities for additional earnings. Ongoing investment in vehicle diagnostics and equipmentDuties as an HGV Technician:
Perform routine servicing, repairs, and maintenance on heavy goods vehicles (HGVs)
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults efficiently
Conduct vehicle inspections, health checks, and road tests
Execute preventative maintenance to meet DVSA standards and compliance
Utilise diagnostic equipment for accurate fault identification and rectification
Prepare vehicles for MOT testing, ensuring fleet compliance
Carry out engine, transmission, brake, suspension, and electrical repairs
Maintain accurate records of maintenance work and service history
Ensure a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment as an HGV Technician
Collaborate with colleagues to maximise vehicle uptime and operational efficiency
Communicate repair findings and recommended actions clearly to managementRequirements:
Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair or equivalent
Proven experience working on HGVs, LGVs, or commercial vehicles
Strong diagnostic and fault-finding abilities
Excellent technical knowledge of modern commercial vehicle systems
Full UK Driving Licence; HGV licence desirable but not essential
Strong organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail
Ability to work independently and within a team environment
