Part Time Learning Assistant in Photography (0.4fte)
Location: Watford Campus WD17 3EZSalary: Contractual Hours: 15.00Basis: FractionalWe are looking for a practical, organised and enthusiastic Photography Technician to support our growing Photography provision within the School of Art & Design.
Working alongside photography lecturers and students, you will play an important role in maintaining our specialist facilities and ensuring learners have access to the equipment, materials and technical support they need to produce ambitious photographic work.
The role will involve preparing and maintaining cameras, lenses, lighting, studio equipment and photographic resources, supporting practical studio sessions, managing equipment loans and returns, monitoring stock and helping maintain safe, organised and professional working environments.
You will provide practical technical guidance to students, helping them use photographic equipment confidently and safely while encouraging them to become increasingly independent.
Knowledge of DSLR/mirrorless cameras, studio flash and continuous lighting, photographic studios and digital photographic workflows is important. Experience of darkroom processes, photographic printing, Adobe Photoshop/Lightroom or other specialist photographic processes would be advantageous.
We are looking for someone who is approachable, patient, organised and technically confident, enjoys working with young people and can explain practical processes clearly.
This would suit a practising photographer, photography graduate, studio assistant, photographic technician or someone working within the photographic industry who would enjoy supporting the next generation of creative practitioners.
The successful candidate will join a dedicated team within a large department where maintaining high levels of performance is expected.
This is a part-time role working 15 hours per week (0.4fte) at our Watford Campus.
