About the role

We are recruiting for Train Managers to join CrossCountry at Edinburgh.

  • Salary of £35,371 per annum during training, rising to £41,292 per annum upon successful completion (average 35 hours per week)

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the face of CrossCountry, ensuring every journey is a pleasant experience for customers
  • Check and sell tickets on board services, advising customers on journeys individually and in groups
  • Maintain awareness of passengers’ individual needs and provide appropriate assistance
  • Handle unexpected situations calmly and confidently, reporting or fixing defective equipment and managing luggage issues
  • Work closely with on‑board colleagues to deliver memorable customer experiences
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and be ready to lead in critical situations after training

Training & Schedule

  • Initial 10‑week training course starting in September, held in Derby covering all aspects of the role
  • Shift work – not a 9‑to‑5 schedule; you must be able to work unsocial hours and some weekends reliably, with week‑day time off

Requirements

  • Must live within a one‑hour commute of Edinburgh
  • Must be able to work unsocial hours, including weekends
  • Safety‑critical medical clearance and DBS check required
