Structural Engineer - DESIGN MANAGER - Commercial Refurb

Structural Design Manager London | Permanent Fawkes & Reece are proud to be working with a leading main contractor with an established reputation across the London construction market. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of work, they are looking to appoint an experienced Structural Design Manager to join their team. The business delivers a range of commercial refurbishment, CAT A/B, fit-out and cut & carve projects, often involving complex alterations to existing structures and technically challenging schemes. This is an excellent opportunity for a Structural Engineer or Design Manager looking to take greater ownership of the design process and work closely with project teams, consultants, subcontractors and clients from pre-construction through to delivery. The Role As Structural Design Manager, you will be responsible for managing the structural design process across live projects, ensuring designs are coordinated, buildable and delivered in line with programme, quality and commercial requirements. Your responsibilities will include: Managing structural design packages from concept through to construction Coordinating structural engineers, consultants and specialist subcontractors Reviewing structural calculations, drawings and technical information Managing design interfaces between structural, architectural and MEP packages Working closely with the construction team to ensure designs are practical and buildable Coordinating structural alterations to existing buildings and structures Supporting the delivery of cut & carve and refurbishment projects Managing technical queries, RFIs and design changes Reviewing temporary works and structural sequencing where required Attending design and technical coordination meetings Working closely with the commercial and pre-construction teams Ensuring designs comply with relevant standards, regulations and project requirements About You The ideal candidate will have a strong structural engineering background combined with experience of design coordination or design management within a contractor environment. You may currently be working as a: Structural Design Manager Design Manager Senior Design Manager Senior Structural Engineer Principal Structural Engineer Design Coordinator with a strong structural background Structural Engineer looking to move into Design ManagementExperience across commercial refurbishment, CAT A/B, fit-out, cut & carve or alterations to existing structures would be particularly beneficial. A degree in Structural/Civil Engineering and relevant professional qualifications are preferred, although strong project experience will also be considered
