About the role
Overview
New Barton Contracts Limited carry out Ceiling, Partitions, SFS and PFP works primarily within Devon and Cornwall, and we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic team.
The successful candidate will play a vital role in the commercial management throughout the lifecycle of our construction projects.
This position offers an excellent opportunity to work on diverse projects, ensuring financial efficiency and project success.
Duties
Work alongside the estimating team on tenders. Review of contractual requirements, risk & opportunity review and assistance with tender pricing.
Monitor project expenditure and identify areas for cost optimisation without compromising quality or safety standards.
Conduct regular site visits to assess progress and verify that work is completed in accordance with contractual specifications.
Prepare applications for payment, price any variations and agree with client.
Prepare detailed reports on financial status, highlighting any discrepancies or potential overruns.
Ensure compliance with relevant legal, safety, and environmental regulations throughout all stages of the project.
Requirements
Ideally we are looking for someone that operates in a non-adversarial manner, a team player who is customer focused and commercially aware.
Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or similar role within the construction sector, with a minimum of 20 years' experience.
Strong expertise in cost control, budgeting, and financial management of construction projects.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Proficiency in industry-standard software such as Chalkstring, Excel and Bluebeam.
Good understanding of contractual procedures and legal aspects related to construction projects.
Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
Relevant qualifications such as a degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management are preferred. This role offers a challenging yet rewarding environment for professionals committed to delivering projects efficiently while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
Pay: £50,000.00-£65,000.00 per year
