The Role As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will: • Provide tailored, individual support for a child with autism in Reception, helping them access learning and fully engage in classroom activities. • Work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider school team to deliver personalised support strategies and Individual Education Plans (IEPs). • Use creative and effective approaches to support communication, emotional regulation, social development, and engagement. • Support daily routines and transitions to create consistency and promote confidence. • Build a positive and trusting relationship with the child and maintain strong communication with their family. • Track progress, provide feedback, and contribute to ongoing support planning. What We’re Looking For We are looking for someone who: ✔ Has previous experience supporting children with autism or additional needs, ideally within a primary school setting. ✔ Demonstrates patience, empathy, resilience, and a flexible approach to supporting individual needs. ✔ Holds a relevant qualification in childcare, education, or support work (Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent preferred). ✔ Works effectively as part of a team and communicates confidently with staff, parents, and external professionals. ✔ Is committed to safeguarding, inclusion, and supporting every child to achieve their potential.
