Apprentice General Assistant

Opportunity to join Bield's Casual bank at our Levenmouth Hub We are a non-profit organisation with charitable status committed to providing a wide range of housing, care and support services to enable older people in Scotland to live independent and fulfilling lives. Bield are now seeking Casual General Assistants to support cover requirements for planned and emergency leave. Levenmouth Hub, consisting of Anderson Court, The Knowe, Hawkslaw Gardens, Braehead Gardens and Carlow Court, offers safe and secure homes to older people, who wish to retain their independence but also want to benefit from leaving the worries of making their own meals each day to someone else. The successful candidates will undertake a range of cleaning duties to ensure that internal communal areas are clean, hygienic and meet the standards expected by our tenants and visitors to the development. On occasion, the General Assistant will be expected to clean vacant flats and/ or external pathways of the development and provide general and emergency assistance to tenants, as required. In addition you may be required to respond to property emergencies, taking appropriate action when the Manager is off duty and providing cover for the development office as required. This role requires working flexibly across all developments within the local hub in line with service needs, ensuring continuity and consistency for our tenants. Casual General Assistant hourly rate is GBP 13.66 - We pay 50% of the cost of Level 2 Disclosure checks   - Flexible working hours including evenings and weekends - No obligation to accept shifts so easy to fit in with personal commitments - Work in a wide variety of housing and care services and roles - Valuable practical work experience in social and health care sector Shifts will be offered on a casual basis to cover planned and emergency leave. Ability to accept shifts at short notice would be desirable, however not essential. Experience of a similar type of role would be an advantage but is not an essential requirement as training will be provided. You should bring to the role a genuine interest in working with older people and an ability to respond calmly to requests for assistance. REHIS Elementary Food Hygiene Qualification or equivalent would be desirable. Although relevant experience in a similar post is also desirable, it is not essential as induction and training (e.g. food hygiene) will be provided.
