Registered Manager - Ofsted Registered Childrens Home
About the role
Registered Manager – Children’s Residential Home
Location: South East London
Salary: £65,000 per annum, increasing to £70,000 following successful completion of probation
Contract: Full-Time, Permanent
Service: Established 3-bed Ofsted-registered children’s home supporting young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD)
The Opportunity
An established children’s residential care provider is seeking an experienced Registered Manager to take leadership of a fully operational, Ofsted-registered children’s home in the South East London Area.
The home is registered for up to three children and young people and already has placements and an established staff team in place.
We are looking for a confident and experienced residential childcare leader who can take ownership of the service, provide stability and strong leadership, build excellent relationships with multidisciplinary professionals and ensure consistently positive outcomes for the young people.
This is an opportunity to take the helm of an operational home rather than establish a service from scratch.
The Role
As Registered Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the leadership, quality and day-to-day operation of the home.
You will lead and develop the staff team, maintaining clear expectations around practice, accountability and child-centred care. You will ensure young people receive individualised, trauma-informed support that promotes stability, emotional wellbeing, education, positive relationships and preparation for adulthood.
You will maintain strong oversight of safeguarding, care planning, risk management, incidents, staffing, supervision, training and quality assurance while ensuring the home remains continuously Ofsted-ready.
Placement stability will be a key priority. You will understand each young person’s needs and professional network and ensure emerging concerns are identified and addressed early.
Strong multidisciplinary working is essential. You will build credible and proactive relationships with social workers, Independent Reviewing Officers, commissioners, education providers, CAMHS, health professionals, families and other agencies supporting each young person.
You will confidently represent the home at reviews, strategy meetings and professional forums and ensure placing authorities experience the service as responsive, transparent and dependable.
Regulatory & Quality Leadership
You will ensure the home operates in accordance with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, Quality Standards, safeguarding requirements and relevant statutory guidance.
You will work closely with the Responsible Individual and Regulation 44 Independent Visitor, lead quality improvement activity and contribute to Regulation 45 reviews.
The expectation is not simply regulatory compliance. We want a Registered Manager who uses quality assurance, incidents, feedback and performance information to continually improve the experiences and outcomes of the young people.
About You
We are looking for an experienced children’s residential care professional with a proven track record of leading within an Ofsted-regulated setting.
Previous experience as an Ofsted Registered Manager is strongly preferred.
You should have substantial experience supporting children and young people with EBD, trauma, placement instability and associated complex needs, together with strong experience of safeguarding, staff leadership, care planning and multidisciplinary working.
You will have an excellent working knowledge of the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, Quality Standards and Ofsted expectations.
You should hold the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, or an appropriate recognised equivalent, and meet the relevant experience requirements for Ofsted registration.
A full UK driving licence is required.
We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate a track record of achieving positive outcomes, developing strong staff teams, maintaining placement stability and contributing to Good or Outstanding Ofsted practice.
What We Offer
The role offers a starting salary of £65,000 per annum, increasing to £70,000 following successful completion of probation, plus performance bonuses.
You will inherit a fully operational, registered home with young people and a staff team already in place, supported by an established senior leadership and governance structure.
This is an opportunity for an experienced Registered Manager to take genuine ownership of a service and concentrate on what matters most: strong leadership, excellent care, stable placements and positive outcomes for children and young people.
If you are an experienced Registered Manager looking for a well-remunerated opportunity where you can make an immediate impact, we would like to hear from you
