IT Controls Tester SecondmentDigital Delivery CentreSalary: 54-64k DOELocation: Predominately remote, UK-based, with occasional travel to Serco officesFull Time, FTC (6 Months)OverviewSerco is growing its IT Controls Testing team and we're looking for someone to join us on a six-month secondment to help deliver a structured programme of controls testing across our finance-related applications.This isn't a role that needs a specialist background — it's a role that needs the right mindset. If you're methodical, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently, we'd like to hear from you.As part of this you’ll be:Planning and scheduling testing activity across an agreed set of applications Working with system owners and support teams to coordinate access and gather evidence Executing tests against our Risk and Controls Matrix and documenting your findings clearly Identifying and recording any control gaps, along with agreed actions and owners Reviewing third-party SOC1 Type 2 reports and flagging where controls don't meet our standards Providing progress updates and completing your assigned testing within the secondment term Day-to-day collaboration with colleagues across Group Finance, digital, and support teamsWhat you’ll need to do the role:We're building a blended team with a mix of skills and backgrounds — so we're deliberately keeping this open. You might come from a finance, IT, project management, or testing background. What matters most is that you bring:A sharp eye for detail and the ability to spot errors or inconsistencies in evidenceThe ability to think analytically and work through complex processes methodicallyStrong written skills — clear, accurate, and thorough in your documentationConfidence working autonomously and managing your own workloadGood communication skills, comfortable with both technical and non-technical colleaguesDesirable, but not essentialExperience of IT controls testing in a finance-related environmentProven experience working in an IT audit, assurance, or controls-testing roleRelevant professional certificationExperience of IT controls testing or audit would be a bonus, but it's not essential.
