Prescribing Paramedic

Location: Chelmsford Job Type: Part-time (3 days per week) Contract: Maternity Cover Start Date: September 2026 About the Role We are looking for an experienced and motivated Prescribing Paramedic to join our friendly and supportive GP practice on a maternity cover contract, starting in September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a modern, patient-focused primary care team where you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality clinical care to patients within the community. Key Responsibilities * Assess, diagnose and manage patients presenting with both acute and routine medical conditions. * Independently prescribe medications within your scope of practice. * Conduct face-to-face consultations and telephone assessments. * Undertake home visits for patients who are unable to attend the surgery. * Develop and implement appropriate treatment and management plans. * Work collaboratively with GPs, nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, effective patient care. * Provide health promotion, self-management advice and patient education. * Maintain accurate, timely and comprehensive clinical records in accordance with NHS and professional standards. * Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives where appropriate. About You The successful candidate will have: * Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). * Qualified Paramedic with an Independent Prescribing qualification. * Experience working within Primary Care or General Practice (preferred). * Excellent clinical assessment and decision-making skills. * Confidence managing a broad range of minor illness and long-term conditions. * Strong communication and interpersonal skills. * A patient-centred approach with the ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
