Job Purpose

This is a role within a new Renters’ Rights Act (RRA) Tenancy Rights, Advice and Enforcement Team and will play a key part in delivering the council’s new duties under the Renters’ Rights Act, supporting tenants, preventing homelessness, and taking robust enforcement action where required.

The position will sit within a specialist service focused on providing high-quality advice, casework, and enforcement to protect private renters from unlawful eviction, harassment, and poor practice, while supporting a prevention-first, resident-centred approach.

The Tenancy Rights Adviser (PO1) role will focus on providing specialist advice, early intervention, and casework support to residents, helping them understand and exercise their rights, resolve disputes, and prevent homelessness, and will undertake investigations of breaches and offences.

The role will work closely with colleagues across Housing, Legal Services, and partner agencies including ASC, CSC, Health, Community Safety, and the voluntary sector, contributing to a coordinated response to tenancy issues and wider vulnerabilities.
We are looking for colleagues who can demonstrate:

Knowledge of tenancy law, the Renters’ Rights Act, and related housing legislation
*
Experience of managing casework in a frontline advice, support, or enforcement setting
*
Strong communication skills and the ability to work with residents in a trauma-informed, empathetic way
*
The ability to make sound, defensible decisions and maintain accurate records
*
A collaborative approach to working with internal teams and external partners
