Payroll Officer Location: Antrim Pay Rate: £18.85 per hour Hours: 37 (Mon-Fri) An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled and motivated Payroll Officer to join the Finance team at Antrim Civic Centre.

The successful candidate will help deliver an efficient, accurate and confidential payroll and pensions service for Council employees, Elected Members and other appointed officers.
Key Responsibilities Process payroll and expenses in line with statutory, regulatory and Council requirements Prepare, check and input payroll data including salaries, overtime, statutory payments and deductions Maintain accurate employee payroll and pension records Administer pension processes including auto-enrolment, retirements and transfers Ensure payroll costs and third-party payments are processed accurately Resolve payroll queries professionally and efficiently Support payroll system updates, reporting and continuous improvement initiatives Assist with statutory returns and compliance with HMRC and pension regulations Essential Criteria Applicants must have: A BTEC National Certificate in Business Related Studies (or equivalent qualification) OR A minimum of 2 years' relevant payroll experience in a computerised payroll environment AND Experience in payroll processing, taxation, National Insurance and pension administration A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail Experience working effectively within a small team environment to meet payroll deadlines Good keyboard and data input skills Experience using an integrated Personnel/Payroll Information System Desirable Criteria Experience within Local Government payroll Thorough knowledge of payroll legislation and procedures Knowledge of Local Government Terms and Conditions Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications To be shortlisted for this role all applicants MUST meet the essential criteria.
