Our client is seeking a Hardware Team Leader to join its defence and aerospace engineering team in Kent on a permanent basis. The role involves providing technical and managerial leadership to an electronics design team supporting safety-critical products, including helmet-mounted and head-up displays, mission computers, flight controls and active inceptors.Key Responsibilities:Providing managerial and technical leadership to a team of hardware and electronics engineersManaging work packages, costs, schedules, risks and opportunities throughout the product lifecycleWorking closely with production teams to ensure engineering activities support programme demandProviding technical governance and ensuring compliance with company processes and relevant standardsLeading cost and performance trade-offs while driving continuous improvementReporting task status, technical maturity and delivery risks to project managementReviewing resource requirements with functional management and supporting effective team planningCoaching team members and helping to develop technical capability and working practicesJob Requirements:Significant experience leading and managing engineering teams through a full product development lifecycleStrong knowledge of electronics design and hardware engineering within a safety-critical environmentExperience managing costs, schedules, dependencies, risks and work packagesUnderstanding of risk and compliance requirements within the defence, security or aerospace sectorsExperience identifying improvements to engineering processes, reducing failures and improving reliabilityFamiliarity with systems full lifecycle activities, technical governance and product design controlExperience using work package or project management tools, including Jira; knowledge of DOORS or MSP would be advantageousStrong communication, coaching, problem-solving and stakeholder management skillsBenefits:Opportunity to work on innovative, safety-critical defence and aerospace technologiesPermanent position within a highly experienced and multidisciplinary engineering teamProfessional development and opportunities to progress within the engineering sectorCollaborative working environment supporting continuous improvement and technical innovationIf you are an experienced Hardware Team Leader with a background in electronics design, systems lifecycle management and engineering leadership, apply now to contribute to the development of advanced defence and aerospace solutions in Kent.
