Hardware Engineer
About the role
Role Overview
Edinburgh-based Tech Organisation are looking for an Electronics-focused Hardware Engineer to join their growing engineering team, working on innovative IoT products that help monitor and protect critical infrastructure.
Team & Environment
At the moment there is a dedicated Hardware Engineer in place, who you'll work very closely with, giving you the opportunity to learn from someone that has been instrumental in developing the company's products over the last few years.
The work is varied and fast-paced, with a strong focus on the next generation of their sensor technology and power systems — so you'll be closely involved in that development work from day one. You'd be joining a close-knit engineering environment where Hardware, Firmware and Software all sit together in Edinburgh, giving you the opportunity to collaborate across multiple disciplines whilst being involved throughout the full product lifecycle.
They're looking for someone comfortable getting involved across the full hardware development process, from requirements gathering and PCB design through to debugging, testing and manufacturing support.
Experience & Qualifications
You'll ideally have experience with most of the following:
- PCB Layout
- Schematic Design
- Microcontrollers
- Hardware Debugging & Fault Finding
- Low Power / Battery Powered Systems
Experience with the following would also be highly desirable:
- Design for Test (DFT) & Design for Manufacture (DFM)
- IoT or Sensor-Based Products
Personal Attributes
Beyond the technical skills, they're looking for someone eager to get stuck in and enjoys working in a smaller engineering team, where everyone has the opportunity to influence products, suggest improvements and take ownership of your work.
Location & Compensation
Their office is based in Edinburgh city centre, within walking distance of both Waverley and Haymarket stations. Due to the nature of the role and access to specialist equipment, they're ideally looking for someone willing to work largely onsite, although there is some flexibility.
In return they're able to offer a salary from £35,000 - £50,000 depending on experience, alongside the opportunity to work closely with (and learn from) a seasoned Hardware Specialist. There is a real opportunity here to take on additional responsibility, gain autonomy in your work, and further your career within a growing organisation.
