You will be responsible for designing and developing commercial, trend-led knitwear ranges, working closely with internal teams, overseas factories and mills throughout the development process.

Experience using Shima software would be beneficial, although this is not essential.

  • Creating mood boards, colour palettes and design concepts, translating trends into commercial knitwear ranges
  • Designing and developing knitwear collections from initial concept through to final sample
  • Working to customer and commercial briefs, ensuring designs are relevant to the target market.
  • Taking ownership of the sample and development process, reviewing samples, and making amendments where required
  • Developing knitwear designs with consideration for yarn, stitch, gauge, colour, shape, and construction
  • Liaising with overseas factories and yarn mills throughout the design and development process
  • Communicating design direction and technical information clearly to suppliers
  • Working closely with internal teams to ensure products are developed to the required quality, cost and critical path
  • Keeping up to date with relevant fashion and knitwear trends across both Ladieswear and Childrenswear
  • Supporting the wider design team with general development and range-building activity where required

Additional Information

The Knitwear Designer will have a strong understanding of knitwear design and development, with an on-trend, commercial eye and the ability to translate fashion trends into commercially successful product.

Previous experience working across Ladieswear and/or Childrenswear knitwear would be highly advantageous, as would experience with Shima software.
