Job description
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH OFFICER
JOB PURPOSE
Manage a caseload of reactive/disrepair cases
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
*
Efficiently and proactively manage a case load of complex cases, this will include service of notices and robust enforcement decisions.
*
Attend tribunal when notices are appealed
*
Respond to service requests concerning environmental health housing, following service policy and procedures to achieve an appropriate outcome.
*
Investigation of service requests and use of appropriate enforcement action in line with the departmental enforcement policy and other relevant guidance.
*
Prepare appropriate specifications, reports, notices, schedules and other related documentation and serve CPN's for failure to comply with notices where appropriate.
*
Ensure appropriate and timely responses to all correspondence, complaints and enquiries from the service users, stakeholders, senior officers within agreed timescales and in line with Camden's Customer Care Standards.
*
Knowledge of Flare/Civica app is an advantage
WORK CONTEXT
*
Although office-based, the role will involve lone working in a diverse range of environments,which can be potentially hazardous or sensitive in nature.
*
A thorough understanding & adherence of the Council's Health & Safety Policy & guidance is imperative. You will know how to handle a wide range of situations and be prepared to receive advice and training to enhance your skills.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
*
BSc or Diploma in Environmental Health and be eligible for EHORB registration as an EHO.
*
At least 2 years of experience working within Environmental Health Housing
*
Have a detailed knowledge / understanding of the legislative framework relevant to the team and its application to casework.
*
Must have extensive experience in making robust enforcement decisions and taking enforcement action under part 1 of the Housing Act 2004
*
Must have experience and confidence to deal with challenging landlords and tenants
