Lead Game Analyst - Old School RuneScape

Overview

Office location: Cambridge, UK. Flexible working options are available, including predominantly remote work. Applicants should be based (or willing to relocate) within a comfortable commuting distance to attend onsite as required. Lead Analyst on Old School RuneScape, responsible for guiding a team of analysts to transform data into actionable insights that influence player experience, product decisions, and business outcomes. This role partners with Product, Design, Engineering, and senior leadership to shape the roadmap by turning complex data into clear recommendations. This is a data-driven leadership position focused on embedding analytics in decision-making for one of gaming"s most successful live service titles.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Product Analysts, fostering curiosity, collaboration, and analytical excellence.
• Build strong relationships with Old School RuneScape teams to understand product strategy, player needs, and business priorities.
• Deliver insights and business intelligence that influence product strategy, feature development, and roadmap planning.
• Transform complex datasets into clear, actionable recommendations to support decision-making across Product, Design, and Leadership.
• Query, analyse, and interpret large datasets to uncover opportunities to improve player engagement, retention, and game experience.
• Collaborate with Engineering and Design to develop and enhance game telemetry and data collection.
• Work with central Data teams to define data requirements and contribute to the evolution of shared data products.
• Develop deep knowledge of Old School RuneScape gameplay systems, mechanics, and player behaviours to provide meaningful context to analysis.
• Champion data-driven thinking across the game team and promote best practices in analytics and reporting.
• Mentor analysts with experience in analytics, business intelligence, or data-focused environments.

Qualifications

• Strong SQL skills and experience working with large datasets and data cleansing techniques.
• Demonstrable understanding of video game player behaviours, particularly in MMORPGs.
• Familiarity with modern data platforms and architectures (e.g., AWS, Snowflake) and OLAP technologies.
• Experience using data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with the ability to communicate complex findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong stakeholder management and the ability to influence decision-making across multiple disciplines.
