Systems Test Engineer (Hardware & Software)

We’re looking for a practical, detail-focused Systems Test Engineer to support the validation and quality assurance of a modern, connected technology platform combining both hardware and software elements.

Working as part of a close-knit engineering team, you will play a key role in ensuring that products are thoroughly tested and ready for deployment. This position involves hands‑on testing, fault diagnosis, and contributing to the overall quality strategy across the product lifecycle.

You’ll take a user‑first approach to testing, helping to identify real‑world issues before release through a mix of structured test execution and exploratory techniques.

Responsibilities

• Carry out end‑to‑end system testing across integrated hardware and software environments
• Identify, log, and track defects, ensuring clear communication with development teams
• Design and maintain test documentation including plans, scenarios, and detailed test cases
• Perform a combination of manual, exploratory, and black‑box testing
• Support the development of automated tests, including scripting or basic hardware‑assisted setups
• Build, configure, and maintain test environments across multiple platforms (desktop, mobile)
• Investigate and troubleshoot system issues, working closely with engineers to drive resolution
• Set up and adjust lab‑based test rigs, including basic hardware configuration where required
• Execute regression testing to ensure stability prior to releases

Experience

• Background in electronics, electrical engineering, or a related technical discipline (academic or practical)
• Experience with system‑level testing or product validation in a technology‑driven environment
• Strong interest in fault‑finding and understanding how systems behave under stress or edge conditions
• Comfortable working across both physical devices and software interfaces
• Familiarity with scripting (e.g. Python) or entry‑level automation techniques
• Understanding of operating systems and common test environments (e.g. Windows, mobile platforms, web interfaces)
• Ability to manage tasks independently and work with minimal supervision
