Job Descriptions:
We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a busy food manufacturing environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, fault-finding and repairing production and packaging equipment to ensure maximum reliability, minimum downtime and safe, efficient production.
Candidates may come from an electrical, mechanical or multi-skilled engineering background, but must have strong practical, hands-on maintenance experience within a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance.
- Respond quickly to production breakdowns and minimise equipment downtime.
- Diagnose, fault-find and repair production and packaging machinery.
- Maintain equipment including motors, gearboxes, bearings, pumps, conveyors, drives, sensors, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Carry out routine inspections, servicing and component replacement.
- Support machinery installation, modification and commissioning.
- Identify recurring equipment problems and support Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
- Contribute to Continuous Improvement and equipment reliability initiatives.
- Complete maintenance records and update CMMS where applicable.
- Work closely with Production and Operations teams.
- Ensure all engineering activities comply with Health & Safety, BRCGS, HACCP, GMP and food hygiene requirements.

Essential:
- Recognised engineering qualification – NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, BTEC or equivalent.
- Hands-on maintenance engineering experience within food manufacturing, FMCG or a similar production environment.
- Strong practical fault-finding and breakdown experience.
- Experience maintaining production and/or packaging machinery.
- Good understanding of PPM and reactive maintenance.
- Ability to diagnose problems and carry out repairs safely and efficiently.
- Comfortable working independently and as part of an engineering team.
- Flexible and able to work within a fast-paced production environment.
Desirable:
- Previous experience within food, beverage, bakery, dairy, meat, ingredients, sauces or other FMCG manufacturing.
- PLC fault-finding experience.
- 18th Edition qualification.
- Experience with CMMS systems.
- Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement or RCA experience.
