Motor Crime Solicitor - Birmingham - Hybrid - up to £50,000

A specialist legal team with an excellent reputation in criminal and regulatory defence, particularly in motor-related offences, is seeking a Solicitor to join its growing team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a varied caseload ranging from minor road traffic offences through to serious injury, dangerous driving and manslaughter cases.
As a Motor Crime Solicitor, you'll support a Senior Lawyer across a varied and technically challenging caseload. You'll be involved in investigating incidents, taking witness statements, attending interviews under caution and assisting with cases through to resolution. The role offers significant client exposure, as well as opportunities to work closely with regulators, police and experts, and attend court hearings and inquests.
The Role
- Supporting a senior lawyer on a varied caseload of motor crime and criminal defence matters
- Assisting with cases ranging from minor road traffic offences to serious injury, dangerous driving and manslaughter
- Investigating incidents and taking witness statements
- Attending interviews under caution
- Preparing and drafting detailed legal documents and case materials
- Working directly with clients throughout the life of a case
- Liaising with regulators, police forces and expert witnesses
- Attending court hearings and inquests
- Assisting with case strategy and progression through to resolution
- Contributing to the continued growth and development of the team
The Candidate
- Qualified Solicitor with experience in motor crime or criminal defence
- NQ Solicitors with 6–12 months' experience will be considered
- Legal aid experience with an interest in moving into private practice would also be considered
- Strong analytical skills with experience reviewing complex evidence
- Excellent communication skills and a client-focused approach
- Comfortable attending court hearings, inquests and interviews under caution
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks, including SRA Standards & Regulations
- Confident using case management systems and drafting detailed legal documents
- Proactive team player with a flexible and results-focused approach
