Steel Operative

Job Title: Steel Operative Location: Newark Start Date: January Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30am–4:00pm Pay: £13.51 per hour (increasing to £14.35 upon permanent employment, then progressing onto a structured salary pathway) Contract Type: Temporary to Permanent Recruitment Pro is recruiting Steel Operatives to join a well-established steel processing site based in Newark. This role offers long-term stability, excellent training opportunities and a clear salary progression structure once permanent. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling steel arriving from the docks, cutting materials using saws and preparing orders for dispatch. This is a hands-on, physical role suited to someone who enjoys practical work and learning new skills. Key Responsibilities * Unloading and handling steel delivered from the docks * Picking parts ready for dispatch * Cutting steel to required sizes using industrial saws * Using an overhead crane * Preparing and organising materials for outgoing shipments * Loading shipments * Working safely and following all site procedures * Maintaining a clean and organised working area * Supporting any additional warehouse or yard duties as required Requirements * Driving licence essential (due to the location of the site) * Previous experience in a labouring, warehouse, factory or steel/metalwork environment is desirable but not essential * Experience using OHC * Willingness to learn and skill up on cutting equipment * Good level of physical fitness * Reliable, hard-working and able to work as part of a team What You’ll Receive * £13.51 per hour starting pay * Increase to £14.35 per hour upon going permanent * Entry into a structured salary progression scheme * Opportunities to gain new skills and increase earning potential * Long-term, stable role with Monday–Friday daytime hours Recruitment Pro Ltd is operating as an Employment Business.
