You will take technical ownership, work across varied projects and develop your profile as a specialist in functional safety.Where you will be basedBristol-based with a hybrid working pattern, combining office, client site and home working. This is a permanent, full-time role.Your roleLead functional safety activities across complex engineering projects from early concept through to delivery and commissioningSpecify, design and assess control, instrumentation and safety systemsApply hazard analysis and risk assessment techniques to safety-critical engineering challengesLead multidisciplinary technical interfaces and support engineering teams throughout the project lifecycleProduce, review and approve technical reports, specifications and engineering documentationWork directly with clients to define requirements, manage technical scope and address project risksYour experienceStrong knowledge of process control systems and associated electrical, control and instrumentation documentationExperience with techniques such as HAZOP, LOPA, SIL determination, FMEA and FTAWorking knowledge of functional safety standards such as IEC 61508, IEC 61511, ISO 13849, DO-178 or DO-254Experience delivering projects within regulated or safety-critical sectorsStrong technical report writing and client-facing communication skillsRelevant engineering degree or equivalent professional experience and qualificationsWhat you will needStrong experience delivering engineering solutions within regulated or safety-critical environmentsPractical functional safety, hazard analysis and risk assessment experienceKnowledge of recognised functional safety standards such as IEC 61508 or IEC 61511Ability to obtain and maintain Security Check (SC) clearanceBenefits and flexibilityAnnual performance-related bonusPrivate healthcareTargeted professional developmentPaid professional institution membership feesThese vacancies require SC clearance.
