Do you have the patience, empathy, and resilience to build strong 1:1 relationships with children who need guidance and support?
About the Role
We are looking for hands on and compassionate Youth Engagement Workers to support children and young people who have disengaged from school and their local community.
This role focuses on working 1:1 with young people, helping to rebuild their confidence, support their learning, and re-engage them with both education and their community. You will play a key role in being a consistent, positive role model—someone who understands their challenges and is committed to helping them succeed.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide 1:1 support to young people who are not currently engaging with school or their community
* Support learning through tailored, flexible approaches
* Help young people re-engage with their local community through planned activities
* Build strong, trusting relationships and act as a positive role model
* Transport young people from their home to a learning centre or approved community activities
* Ensure activities outside of the centre take place in pre-approved and fully risk-assessed environments
* Promote emotional wellbeing, confidence, and social development
Ideal Backgrounds & Experience
We welcome applicants from a range of professional backgrounds, including:
* Youth Workers
* Teaching Assistants or Education Support Staff
* Alternative Provision (AP) experience
* Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) experience
* Sports Coaches
* Mentors or Behaviour Support Workers
* Social Care or Support Work backgrounds
Experience working with children or young people with additional needs or challenging behaviour is highly desirable.
What We’re Looking For
* A genuine passion for supporting young people
* Strong communication and relationship-building skills
* Patience, empathy, and resilience
* Experience with challenging behaviours
* Ability to work independently and use initiative
* A commitment to making a real difference in a young person’s life
* Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential for transporting young people)
Why Join Us?
This is a highly rewarding role where your impact is visible every day. You will have the opportunity to help young people reconnect with education, rediscover their confidence, and feel part of their community again
