Requisition ID: 8613ERP Eligible?: YesERP amount: 1,800Type: ExemptShift: 1Clearance Prior to Start: SCFinal Clearance: SCExperience Level: Experienced ProfessionalFT/PT/Casual: FullTimeDepartment: LMUK Strategic SystemsBusiness Unit: LMUK Strategic SystemsAbout the roleWe are looking for a versatile and experienced Senior Business Analyst to join our team based from Helensburgh, Scotland.  This role benefits from our 4xFlex working pattern, offering a 4-day working week Monday - Thursday and hybrid working, with typically 2 days a week onsite and 2 days working from home (subject to business needs)As our Senior Business Analyst you will operate primarily within an Agile software development environment, while also possessing the ability to write formal URDs (User Requirements Documentation) more aligned to traditional waterfall projects. You will play a key role in shaping, capturing, and delivering requirements across complex programmes within a secure and highly regulated environment. Working closely with stakeholders, developers, and operational teams, you will help design and implement systems that support hundreds of users across the Ministry of Defence and contribute directly to critical operational decision making. The successful candidate will operate across multiple disciplines and workstreams, leading analysis activities and supporting delivery throughout the project lifecycle. Alongside strong collaboration skills, you must be comfortable working independently and taking ownership of projects, deliverables, and outcomes.Key Responsibilities Write high-quality user stories and acceptance criteria for Agile delivery teamsProduce User Requirements Documents (URDs), process documentation, and supporting project artefactsRun yearly reviews of software with the customer to confirm applications are operating as required and document improvementsFacilitate stakeholder workshops to gather, validate, and prioritise requirementsDevelop As-Is and To-Be process models to support business change and service improvementsAct as the liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams within a DevOps environmentSupport application delivery lifecycles, ensuring alignment with business and operational objectivesContribute to backlog management, sprint planningMaintain end-to-end traceability of requirements through delivery, testing, and implementationManage requirements throughout their lifecycle, from initial concept and epic definition through to user story refinementOperate across multiple workstreams, balancing competing priorities and delivery timelinesEngage with defence stakeholders while ensuring adherence to security and regulatory standardsWhy You’ll Love Working Here4-day working week (Mon–Thu) – enjoy a true work–life balanceHybrid working – typically 2 days onsite, 2 days remoteCollaborative culture – work alongside some of the brightest minds in the UKBe part of an organisation delivering cutting-edge Defence and technology programmes that make a real impactThe successful candidate must achieve the appropriate level (SC) of security clearance. More details can be found hereRequired skills, qualifications and experienceProven experience as a Business Analyst Experience working within a DevOps environmentStrong knowledge of Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) and traditional Waterfall delivery approachesExperience writing user stories, acceptance criteria, URDs, and formal specificationsExperience facilitating workshops and engaging stakeholders at all organisational levelsProficiency in process mapping and business analysis techniques, including As-Is and To-Be modellingAbility to manage competing priorities across multiple workstreamsStrong communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiencesExperience supporting delivery activities and managing workstreams or project componentsFamiliarity with tools such as JIRA, Confluence and VisioDesired SkillsExperience as a Business Analyst within Defence, MoD or similar Government Department
